Backwards in High Heels: The Ginger Musical

International City Theatre is proud to present the Los Angeles Premiere of this wonderful musical! The remarkable life and times of the multi-talented, legendary actress Ginger Rogers comes to life onstage.The 'Ginger Musical' combines unforgettable music, show-stopping dance numbers and a powerful story that touches your heart.

Best known as Fred Astaire's dance partner, Ginger Rogers was also an acclaimed actress and singer and one of the industry's first women to demand equal pay. Funny, moving, and a visual feast, "Backwards in High Heels" is a toe-tapping account of her public and private life and will have audiences on waiting lists and critics cheering.

Laura Ellis, known for her rich, warm voice that "harkens to mind the classic jazz greats of old" (Jazz Ambassador Magazine) sings the songs of sirens from the silver screen such as Rita Hayworth, Jane Russell, and Marilyn Monroe. Protg of The Manhattan Transfer's Alan Paul, Laura Ellis evokes the ladies of the movies, who sang of love, loss, and life's unpredictable outcomes. Her recording Here Lies Love was released to rave reviews in 2005. Fans know Laura Ellis from her appearances with 50's vocal group, the Wonderelles, her television soundtrack recordings, and her sizzling new show, Femme Fatale, a story of intrigue and double-cross, told with music, song, and film.
