Your Jazz Adventure begins! An optional group flight departs from Los Angeles for the City of Light – Paris!

DAY 1: APRIL 15 – ARRIVE IN PARIS
Arrive in Paris and in the afternoon, board the MS Amadeus Diamond. This evening enjoy a welcome dinner, hosted by Jose Rizo and Bubba Jackson, and your Earthbound Expeditions guide. Sleep on board the MS Diamond. (D)

DAY 2: APRIL 16 – AUVERS-SUR-OISE AND CHATEAU DE MALMAISON
Famous for its many famous visiting painters (Cézanne, Daubigny, Pissarro, Corot, Van Gogh), and also as being the burial place of Vincent Van Gogh and his brother, Theo, Auvers-sur-Oise is located just 25km north of Paris. Enjoy a stroll to view landscapes found in Camille Pissaro's paintings and see the cathedral. Then return to the ship for lunch. After lunch, join the excursion to Chateau de Malmaison, the former residence of Empress Joséphine de Beauharnais, wife of Napoléon Bonaparte. Your local guide will regale you with stories about the history of the estate and the famously passionate and stormy relationship of Joséphine and Napoléon. Return to our ship for dinner and a welcome concert on board. Sleep on board. (B,L,D)

DAY 3: APRIL 17 – A DAY IN ROUEN
The city of Rouen, which stretches along the Seine, is Normandy's cultural, historic and gastronomic capital. Monet's canvases of the cathedral have made it the best-loved building in town, but many other sights stand out, including fine museums and the church dedicated to tragic visitor Joan of Arc. Enjoy a guided tour of the highlights of Rouen, followed by a special jazz concert. Sleep on board. (B,L,D)

DAY 4: APRIL 18 – HONFLEUR
Honfleur, a town of painters and Impressionism, possesses that something extra that makes it irresistible. The changing light on the Seine estuary inspired Courbet, Monet, Boudin and many others. Enjoy a guided walk in this delightful seaside town and optional free time for lunch before returning to the ship. Sleep on board. (B,L,D)

DAY 5: APRIL 19 – BATTLE OF NORMANDY AND D-DAY BEACHES
Today's visit includes the major historic WWII sites of Normandy: see Gold Beach, Courseulles sur Mer and Juno Beach on your way to visit the World War landmarks of Omaha Beach, the deeply moving American Military Cemetery and the Debarkation Museum in Arromanches. Return for dinner on board. Sleep on board. (B,L,D)*

DAY 6: APRIL 20 – MONT ST MICHEL
Today's full-day excursion is to the stunning UNESCO World Heritage site of Le Mont St Michel. Perched on a rocky island, having withstood the powerful tides of Normandy and Brittany for ten centuries, this Gothic style Benedictine Abbey is a wonder to behold. Reaching the summit is for sturdy pilgrims, so be prepared to make the climb to the very top of the abbey for a spectacular view of the vast and surrounding bay. Return for dinner on board. Sleep on board. (B,L,D)*

DAY 7: APRIL 21 – GIVERNY
Enjoy a free morning to rest and relax. After an early lunch, we'll depart for Giverny, the village where Claude Monet lived and created the gorgeous gardens which inspired his Water Lilies. After the garden visit, you may wish to see the exhibit at the Museum of Impressionism or take a stroll in the delightful village. Return on board for a "Roaring 20s" Gala for our last night on the ship! (Period attire optional) Sleep on board. (B,L,D)

DAYS 8 & 9: APRIL 22 & 23 – ARRIVE IN PARIS
After breakfast on board the ship we say "Au revoir" to the Amadeus Diamond and transfer to our centrally-located hotel in Paris. Over the course of the next two days, you'll enjoy an in-depth look into France's past by visiting the historic center of Paris, including the Ile de la Cité, Notre Dame and the Left Bank. You'll also learn about the history of jazz in Paris: a city that continues to be closely associated with the music that was introduced by American troops stationed in Paris during WWI. Soldiers started playing in casual groups around the city and after the war, African American musicians in particular were drawn to Paris due to the more accepting racial attitudes of the French. The love affair continues today, as we plan to attend a jazz concert at a fantastic local club while we're in the "City of Light." Sleep in the heart of Paris. (Both breakfasts, one lunch on 4/22 and dinner on 4/23).

DAY 10: APRIL 24 – TOUR ENDS IN PARIS
Tour ends in Paris this morning. The optional group flight departs today. Bon Voyage! (B)
