On Thursday, April 23rd, the Library Foundation celebrates the centennial of the Central Library with ALOUD and KJazz for a program exploring the Los Angeles Public Library’s premier collections of Green Books, a travel guide for Black motorists used for decades when traveling through segregated America. The Los Angeles Public Library has the second largest collection of Green Books and the second largest number of Green Book sites in the country. The event features expert and author Candacy Taylor and LA-based historian Tyree Boyd-Pates and takes place in the Mark Taper Auditorium at the Central Library in downtown Los Angeles. RSVP at www.LFLA.org/ALOUD.
